How The Life Saga holds your data with care
Last updated: 3 June 2026
This policy is written in plain language so you can actually read it.
If anything is unclear, write to us at
[email protected]
and we will explain it.
1. Who we are
The Life Saga (the "App") is an Android application published by
THE LIFE SAGA, a micro-enterprise registered in India
("we", "us", "our"). The App is a personal
spiritual practice tool — it offers reflections, sacred practices,
diaries, breathing rituals, and content drawn from many wisdom
traditions. This policy describes what data the App collects, how it
is used, and where it is stored.
2. The short version
- Almost everything you create stays on your device — with one
exception: the AI companions (Divine Chat, Dream Interpreter, Mirror
of the Soul) send the message you type to our servers and to OpenAI to
compose a reply. See Section 3.6.
- If you sign in with Google to back up your diary, your diary is
copied to your own Google Drive — not our servers.
- We do not run third-party advertising. We do not sell or share
your data with brokers or advertisers.
- We use Google services (Play Billing, Firebase Authentication,
Google Drive) only to make the app work — never to track you.
- You can delete everything by uninstalling the App and revoking
Google Drive access in your Google Account settings.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you give us
The App stores the following in a local SQLite database on your device:
- Soul-name — the name you offer at first launch.
- Religion and chosen deity — optionally selected during
onboarding to personalize content. You can change these anytime
in Soul Profile.
- Diary entries — anything you write in the Diary.
- Reflections and inquiry answers — your responses to
the daily prompts and Chamber questions.
- Tasks and life-tree branches — entries you create in
the Divine Tasks feature and Tree of Life.
- Progress data — daily awakening day count,
manifestation stage, survival mode progress, Soul Points balance,
civilization visits, artifacts unlocked, council convening
attendance, daily symbol draws.
- Companion / pathfinder preferences — which civilization
or Companion you have chosen to walk with you.
All of the above is stored locally on your device. It is not transmitted
to our servers.
3.2 Information from Google when you sign in (optional)
If you choose to enable diary backup, the App will ask you to sign in
with your Google account. When you do, Google shares with the App:
- Your Google account name and email address (so we know which account
owns the backup).
- Permission to read and write a single file in your Google Drive
(the encrypted diary backup).
The App never asks for, or has access to, any other file in your Drive.
You can revoke access at any time at
myaccount.google.com → Security → Third-party access.
3.3 Information from in-app purchases
Purchases of Soul Points (a virtual in-app currency) are processed
entirely by Google Play Billing. The App receives only
a purchase token to verify the transaction. We never see your card
number, address, or any other payment detail — Google handles all of
that and is the merchant of record.
3.4 Information from Firebase Authentication and App Check
The App uses Google Firebase services for two narrow purposes:
- Firebase Authentication — issues a token that lets
the App connect to your Google Drive on your behalf. The token is
scoped to your device.
- Firebase App Check — verifies that requests come
from a genuine, unmodified copy of the App (anti-abuse). The token
is anonymous and contains no personal data.
Firebase may collect basic technical metadata (app version, Android
version, anonymous installation ID, IP address at the moment of the
request) as part of normal service operation. See Google's privacy
policy at policies.google.com/privacy for details.
3.5 Information from content downloads
The App downloads its content database (lore, civilizations, artifacts,
teachings) from Cloudflare R2 hosted at
cdn.thelifesaga.com. Cloudflare receives only the request itself —
your IP address, user agent, and which file you asked for. We do not
attach any identifier to these requests.
3.6 Information processed by the AI companions
A few features answer you with the help of an AI language model:
Divine Chat and your walking companion, the
Dream Interpreter, and the Mirror of the
Soul. When — and only when — you send a message to one of these,
the App transmits the following to our own servers (under thelifesaga.com),
which relay it to OpenAI to compose the reply:
- The soul-name you chose and your interface language.
- The message, dream, or reflection you type.
- The spiritual context you selected — your chosen companion or
civilization and, if you picked one, your tradition or deity — so the
reply speaks in the right voice.
- A short on-device memory summary of your earlier turns
with that companion, plus the last couple of messages, so the
conversation stays coherent.
Under OpenAI's API terms, what is sent this way is not used to
train their models. Your conversation history is kept on your
device; your messages travel to our servers and OpenAI only to generate
each reply. Because these messages do leave your device, please
do not type anything into the companions that you need to keep
entirely private. You can erase the local history at any time with
"Forget all buddies" in the companion settings.
4. What we do NOT collect
- No advertising IDs. The App's manifest explicitly
removes the Google Advertising ID permission. We do not show ads,
anywhere.
- No location, no country tracking. The App never
requests GPS or network location. To show the right crisis-helpline
numbers, it reads your device's own region setting locally — that
never leaves your device and is never sent to us or anyone else.
- No microphone recording. Although the Android
permission for audio exists in the manifest, the App does not
record, transmit, or store audio. The permission is reserved for a
future "spoken intention" feature; until that ships, no audio
leaves your device.
- No third-party analytics or trackers. The App does
not use Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, AppsFlyer,
Mixpanel, Amplitude, or any other product analytics tool.
- No social media SDKs.
- No contacts, calendar, photos, or SMS access.
5. How we use the data
The data described in Section 3 is used only to:
- Personalize the content of the App (e.g. address you by your
soul-name).
- Save your progress so the App remembers where you are on the path.
- Back up your diary to your own Google Drive when you ask it to.
- Process in-app purchases through Google Play.
- Fetch content updates from our content delivery network.
- Translate user-facing strings on-device using ML Kit (no data
leaves your device for translation).
- Generate replies from the AI companions (chat, dream, mirror) by
sending the message you type to our servers and OpenAI, as described
in Section 3.6.
We do not sell, lease, or trade any of this data to anyone, ever.
6. Where data lives
- On your device — almost everything (soul-name,
diary, reflections, progress). Stored in an encrypted-at-rest
SQLite database in the App's private storage area. Other apps on
your phone cannot read it.
- In your Google Drive — encrypted diary backup,
if you opt in. Only you control this file.
- In Google Play / Firebase / Cloudflare — as
described in Sections 3.3, 3.4, 3.5. These are infrastructure
providers; they hold the minimum information needed to make the
service work.
- On our servers and OpenAI — only the messages you
send to the AI companions, used to generate each reply (Section 3.6).
Your conversation history itself stays on your device.
7. Children
The App is intended for users 13 years of age or older.
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you are a
parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has used the App, write
to us at [email protected] and we will delete any associated
data.
8. Your rights
You can:
- Delete everything by uninstalling the App. Local
data is removed by the Android system on uninstall.
- Revoke Google Drive backup at any time via
myaccount.google.com → Security → Third-party access.
- Stop in-app purchases via Google Play settings.
- Ask us to delete any data we may hold by writing to
[email protected]. (In practice, we hold very little —
almost everything is on your device.)
- Request a copy of any data we hold, in
machine-readable form, at the same address.
9. Security
The App uses Android's standard application sandbox, which prevents
other apps from reading its private files. Diary backups stored in
your Google Drive are encrypted before upload using AES — the
encryption key is currently shared across installs, so a determined
adversary with the APK could decrypt a backup file if they obtained
one. We are aware of this limit and are working to derive the key
per-user. Until that ships, please regard the diary backup as
"encrypted in transit but recoverable if both the file and the App
are in the same hands."
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects how your
data is treated, the App will prompt you to read and accept the new
version. The "Last updated" date at the top will change. Older
versions remain available on request.
